Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a composite roll provided with the outer layer which maintains the characteristic of a roll material, is excellent in wear resistance and has a homogeneous material and further is excellent in surface roughening resistance.
CONSTITUTION: The outer layer 1 and intermediate layer 3, and the intermediate layer 3 and inner layer 2 are composed by welding them mutually. The chemical composition of the outer layer consists of, by wt.%, 0.7-1.0% C, 0.1-2.0% Si, 0.1-2.0% Mn, 0.1-4.5% Ni, 3.0-10.0% Cr, 0.1-9.0% Mo, 1.5-10.0% W, 1.5-10.0% in total of one kind or two kinds of V and/or Nb and the balance Fe essentially. The outer layer may contain one or more kinds among Al, Ti and Zr of respectively 0.01-0.50% or/and 0.01-0.50% B in addition to alloy components. The intermediate layer is composed of high carbon cast steel of a specific composition and the inner layer is composed of flake graphite cast iron, spheroidal graphite cast iron or graphite steel.
