PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adapter that allows various kinds of optical systems to properly function in a lens interchangeable camera system.SOLUTION: An adapter includes: a first mount section that is detachably attached to a camera body; a second mount section that is provided separately from the first mount section and is detachably attached to an interchangeable lens; and an adapter control section which performs first communication with the interchangeable lens attached to the second mount section to obtain first information from the interchangeable lens and sends second information created based on the first information to the camera body by performing second communication with the camera body attached to the first mount section. The adapter control section performs first communications plural times to obtain first information, and generates second information by using obtained information that is information corresponding to the first information obtained in first communication for each time of plural times, and unobtained information that is information corresponding to unobtained first information of the first information required for generation as second information.
