Abstract:
A method for optimizing the combustion process using commercial fuels and which reduces noxious and pollution products in the exhaust gases, by providing of branching out of a part of the combustion air, which by suction and/or by utilizing an additional stream of compressed air is caused to bubble in an aqueous saline solution, in which the following ionic species are dissolved : cations: sodium, calcium, magnesium, potassium, ammonium; anions: chloride, sulphate, bicarbonate, nitrate, bromide, in amounts comprised between particular values. On the surface of said solution a layer of a liquid not mixable with water is provided. The aerosol thus produced is conveyed into the combustion chamber (4), where the other part of the air necessary for combustion is fed. The invention also provides an improved apparatus for carrying out said method and which comprises a conventional equipment (8, 8a, 1, 3) for producing the aerosol and a device for automatically controlling the air flow rate of said air enriched with aerosol and which, through a sensing means (PC; 6, 7) operates in response to predetermined conditions of the combustion process.
