Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reservoir to be used with an insulin pump, and means preventing and detecting overpressure or under-pressure in the reservoir.SOLUTION: A medical pump comprises: a rigid wall 3 and a movable membrane 2 in a top head shell 24 and a bottom hard shell 1, where the movable membrane liquid-tightly separates a second chamber 29 designed to contain a fluid and a third chamber 22. The first chamber comprises first venting means 20 which is arranged to provide a fluidic communication between the first chamber and the external environment. The third chamber comprises second venting means 7 which is arranged to provide a fluidic communication between the third chamber and the external environment. A pumping element 4 located in the first chamber includes at least one pressure sensor which measure the pressure gradient between the first chamber and the second chamber, and a fluid pathway which permits a first fluid connection 27 between the second chamber and the pumping element and a second fluid connection 28 between the pumping element and a patient line 30.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
