Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for producing ammonia from nitric acid in a large amount and efficiently and inexpensively.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing ammonia which comprises a reduction step of supplying and mixing titanium hydroxide 6 to a nitric acid aqueous solution 4 to produce ammonia from nitric acid by the reducing action of titanium hydroxide. Preferably, there is provided a method for producing ammonia by simultaneously mixing nitric acid, water, titanium chloride and sodium hydroxide and irradiating light including ultraviolet rays having a short wavelength of 308 nm or less while heating to produce ammonia. There is provided an apparatus 1 for producing ammonia which comprises a reactor 2, a light source 3, a nitric acid supply part 4 and a titanium supply part 6.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
