Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for an atom gyro compass which is optically dithered.SOLUTION: An atom gyro compass comprises: a vacuum chamber storing cloud formed of alkali atoms which are laser cooled, in which the atoms can fall freely by an affection of gravity; a first set of laser sources 121, 122 for radiating a first set of laser beam 310 to inside of the cloud along a first shaft; and a second set of laser sources 123, 124 for radiating a second set of laser beam 320 to inside of the cloud along a second shaft. The laser beams of the first and second sets radiate a coherent laser pulse for separating a wave function of the atoms along a locus defining a plane, in which the wave function has sensibility to rotation around a shaft 230 being orthogonal to the plane. The laser sources of the first and second sets apply dithering to the shaft, by modulating relative amplitude of the first laser beam to the second laser beam.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3C
