Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backup device that can perform a backup operation using a second power supply unit even in the case of a stoppage of power supply from a first power supply unit and can effectively reduce the power consumption of the second power supply unit during the backup operation.SOLUTION: A backup device 1 comprises: a discharge unit 4 that performs a discharge operation in which an electric power is supplied to a shift-by-wire ECU 120 (a power supply target) and the like based on the power supply from a second power supply unit 7 and also performs a stop operation so as to stop the discharge operation; and a control unit 10 to control the discharge unit 4. The control unit 10 having a function as a discharge control unit makes the discharge unit 4 perform a discharge operation to supply an electric power to the shift-by-wire ECU 120 (a power supply target) and the like by discharging the electric power of the second power supply unit 7 when it is determined that an abnormal power supply from a first power supply unit 91 is detected by an abnormality detection unit and that a speed of the vehicle is determined as a threshold level or less by a determination unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
