Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve bar-code reading accuracy.SOLUTION: On the basis of distribution of luminance values of an input image of a bar-code, a ratio between width of thick bars and width of thin bars of the bar-code is calculated. The number of samples of first distribution of luminance values regulated with respect to a first character is changed based on the ratio so as to generate second distribution. The number of samples of the second distribution is changed to the number of samples of distribution of luminance values for one character obtained from the image of the bar-code so as to generate third distribution. On the basis of correlation between the third distribution and the distribution of luminance values for the one character, determination is made as to whether the distribution of luminance values for the one character indicates the first character or not.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
