Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel bearing device which is elongated in a life of a bearing by enhancing the sealing performance of a seal without increasing seal torque.SOLUTION: A seal 8 comprises: a core grid 15 which is pressure-inserted into an internal periphery of an end part of an outer member 10; a first side lip 16a which is joined to the core grid, inclined to the outside of a radial direction, and opposes a metal ring 17 which is attached to a base part 18 of a wheel attachment flange 4 with a clearance in an axial direction; a second side lip 16b which is formed at an inside diameter side of the first side lip, and slide-contacts with the first side lip with a fastening margin in the axial direction; and a third side lip 19a which is inclined to the outside of a radial direction toward the wheel attachment flange 4 from the base part 19 which covers an outer surface of an outer edge of the core grid 15. A tip of the core grid is formed flat, and opposes a side face 4b of the wheel attachment flange 4 with a clearance in the axial direction, a first labyrinth seal 20 is constituted, and an outer edge of the metal seal 17 opposes a seal member 16 with a clearance in the axial direction, thus forming a labyrinth seal 25.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
