Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel bearing device capable of improving traveling fuel consumption when an angular ball bearing is in a low preload state, and improving traveling stability when the angular ball bearing is in a high preload state.SOLUTION: A wheel bearing device 1 in which an angular ball bearing in which a virtual line Z connecting a contact point X of an outer rolling surface 2d formed on an outer member 2 and a rolling element 4, and a contact point Y of an inner rolling surface 3d formed on an inner ring 32 and the rolling element 4 is inclined to an outer side toward a radial outer side, is constituted, and to which rotational power is transmitted through a universal joint 7 by engaging a shaft body 7a of the universal joint 7 with a hub ring 31, includes a torque cam mechanism 8 disposed between opposed faces of the inner ring 32 and the universal joint 7, and the torque cam mechanism 8 exerts pressing force P in an axial direction when a phase between the opposed faces is relatively changed, thus the inner ring 32 is energized to an outer side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
