Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the antimicrobial agent containing the chloroform-soluble ingredient of a tea (extract) as an active ingredient, free from care for side effects against human bodies, strongly acting on injurious bacteria, etc., high in practicalibity, and suitable for refreshing waters, cosmetics, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This antimicrobial agent contains the chloroform-soluble ingredient of tea leaves such as leaves obtained from tea trees or the chloroform- soluble ingredient of a tea extract obtained by extracting the tea leaves with water or an organic solvent as an active ingredient. Injurious microorganisms selected from food-poisoning bacteria, putrefying bacteria in foods, cosmetics, quasi-drugs, etc., heat-resistant bacteria causing the microorganism accidents of foods, infectious disease-causing bacteria in medical care sites and plant pathogenic bacteria are sterilized with the antimicrobial agent, or the multiplication of the injurious microorganisms is inhibited with the antimicrobial agent. The antimicrobial agent is preferably used in a concentration range of 100-500ppm.
