PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve belt efficiency.SOLUTION: In a belt efficiency maximum point detection device, a rotation speed detection circuit 21 detects an input rotation speed of an input-side pulley, and a μ saturation determination circuit 26 determines whether a belt μ is close to belt μ saturation depending on frequency shift of an oscillation cycle of input rotational speed oscillation in the frequency corresponding to preliminarily obtained drive shaft torsional oscillation frequency.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
