Abstract:
To provide a brake diaphragm for a railway vehicle that is improved to prevent abnormal noise during brake operation caused by accumulation of air between the diaphragm and a piston outer peripheral surface over a longer period of time.SOLUTION: The brake diaphragm for a railway vehicle includes a rubber cylindrical diaphragm 1 and a pair of pistons 2, 3 arranged to face bead parts 1B, 1B on both ends in a direction of an axis P of the diaphragm 1. Outer peripheral surfaces 4c, 14c capable of rolling and guiding turnover cylindrical portions 12, 13 formed by folding back both end parts in response to the deformation of the diaphragm 1 are formed on each of the pistons 2, 3. An exhaust passage W capable of venting air between the turnover cylindrical portions 12, 13 and the outer peripheral surfaces 4c, 14c is formed on the outer peripheral surfaces 4c, 14c so as to be brought into contact with the turnover cylindrical portions 12, 13 by a smooth surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
