To provide a camera capable of selecting a voice dictionary appropriate to the voice of a speaker by a simple operation.
A voice dictionary preparing part 155 prepares a voice dictionary for each of a plurality of speakers, makes each of the voice dictionaries correspond to each symbol image for recognizing each speaker and stores the voice dictionaries into a memory card 200. A voice dictionary selecting part 157 displays a list of symbol images on an image display LCD (liquid crystal display) 102, selects a desired symbol image and stores a voice dictionary corresponding to the selected symbol image into a voice dictionary memory 156. A voice control part 158 uses the voice dictionary stored in the voice dictionary memory 156 to recognize a voice inputted from a microphone 151 and performs camera control corresponding to the voice.
