Abstract:
To provide a card reader which prevents damage and abrasion of a card with a simple structure.SOLUTION: A card reader 30 comprises: a frame 31 formed with a card insertion port 32 into which a card 100 mounted with an IC chip is inserted; a conveyance path L that extends from the card insertion port 32 continuously toward a depth side of the frame 31 and conveys the card 100 from the side of the card insertion port 32 to the depth side; and an IC data reading part 50 that is provided so as to face the conveyance path L and has at least one contact terminal 52 in contact with an external contact terminal 102 of the IC chip. The conveyance path L is an area sandwiched between: a flat face part 60a provided with the IC data reading part 50; and a curved face part 60b that faces the flat face part 60a and has a distance D to the flat face part 60a that increases until an arbitrary position on the depth side of the conveyance path L and the distance D to the flat face part 60a that decreases from the arbitrary position to a depth end of the conveyance path L.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
