Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a carrier of an ethylene oxide production catalyst capable of preparing an ethylene oxide production catalyst having superior catalytic performance, to obtain an ethylene oxide production catalyst using the carrier and having superior catalytic performance and to obtain a production method of ethylene oxide using the catalyst. SOLUTION: An aluminum compound, a silicon compound and an alkali metallic compound are added to α-alumina having 1-70 mmol/kg alkali metal content and they are fired to obtain the objective carrier of an ethylene oxide production catalyst containing 0-3 mol/kg (expressed in terms of Al) aluminum compound, 0.01-2 mol/kg (expressed in terms of Si) silicon compound and 0.01-2 mol/kg (expressed in terms of alkali metal) alkali metallic compound.
