Abstract:
PURPOSE:To set a low caster angle when a steering angle in an excessive steering state and a high caster angle when a steering angle is in a steering back state and to improve cornering ability by providing a caster angle regulating mechanism to regulate a caster angle through drive of the constituting element of a suspension. CONSTITUTION:In a strut type suspension wherein the head part of a strut 1 is secured to the car body 4 side, a caster angle regulating mechanism 12 to regulate a caster angle through slide of a head part 1A in the longitudinal direction of a car body is disposed to the mounting part of the head part 1A of the strut 1. The regulating mechanism 12 is formed such that a slide wall part 19 in the shape of a wedge of a slide plate 13 mounted on the upper end of the strut 1 through a needle bearing 20 is slidably engaged with a pair of rail parts 17 composed by the wall in a triangular shape in cross section of a slide base 14 mounted on the car body 4 side. An actuator 25 is linked to the slide plate 13, and the actuator 25 is controlled through a controller 26 according to a steering angle.
