Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for catalytic cracking of a heavy hydrocarbon using a catalyst under coexistence of water.SOLUTION: A method for subjecting an organic compound including a heavy hydrocarbon to catalytic cracking reaction by using a metallic oxide catalyst in a hydrothermal condition is provided, in which the catalytic cracking reaction is performed through redox of a metallic ion of the metallic oxide catalyst and includes the following simultaneous steps: (i) a step of oxidizing the metallic oxide catalyst in a reduction state with water to generate the metallic oxide catalyst in an oxidation state and hydrogen; (ii) a step of oxidizing the organic compound with the metallic oxide catalyst in an oxidation state to generate an oxidative decomposition product and the metallic oxide catalyst in a reduction state; and (iii) a step of hydrogenating the oxidative decomposition product with hydrogen to form a hydrogenated product. In the whole steps (i)-(iii), hydrogen, the oxidative decomposition product and the hydrogenated product are obtained and the metallic oxide catalyst has an oxygen storage/release capacity:OSC of 1 μmol-O/g-cat or more at 250-500°C.
