Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chain mechanism for an engine, capable of reducing the influences of a fluctuation in the revolution of the four-cylinder engine, such as vibration and noise resulting from backlash between gears.SOLUTION: The chain mechanism includes a sprocket 7 arranged on a crankshaft 6 of an engine 1, a sprocket 27 arranged on an input shaft 26 of an oil pump 23, a chain 30 wound between the sprocket 7 and the sprocket 27, and a chain tensioner 8 for adjusting the tension of the chain 30. The sprocket 7 is formed so that the sprocket number thereof is twice that of the sprocket 27, the chain 30 has an even-number of link members 31, 31 connected to one another via pins 32, 32, and the ratio of intervals between the adjacent pins 32, 32 is continuously set to be 20:21.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
