PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character size change device in which useless retention and saccade of a visual-point of a reader are suppressed so as to cause an electronic book to be easily browsed without troubling the reader.SOLUTION: A character size change device 1 includes: a visual distance calculation part 13 for calculating a visual distance between a display screen for displaying electronic book data and the eyeball of a reader; a reference character size storage part 17 for storing, as a reference character size and reference visual distance, a character size and a visual distance which allow the reader to read, at a high speed, character/symbol/numeric information included in previously acquired electronic book data; an optimum character size calculation part 15 for calculating an optimum character size in accordance with a visual distance so that a ratio between an optimum character size and the reference character size approaches a ratio between a visual distance and the reference visual distance; and a display form change part 16 for changing a display form of the character/symbol/numeric information so that a character size of the character/symbol/numeric information becomes an optimum character size.
