Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chiral shift agent for NMR made of achiral molecules, and to provide a method of determining, using the agent, the optical purity and absolute arrangement of various chiral materials by a nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry.SOLUTION: The chiral shift agent for NMR of the present invention is made of achiral oxo-porphyrinogen. The achiral porphyrinogen is hydrogen-bonded to a chiral material in a one-to-one relationship, thereby providing a complex. Thus, chiral information (optical purity or absolute arrangement) related to the chiral material can be transferred to the porphyrinogen. The transferred chiral information can be easily read by a proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry.
