Abstract:
PURPOSE: To recognize the position, attitude, and form of stranded wire correctly and automatically.
CONSTITUTION: Stranded wire 1 loaded at random on a stage 11 is lighted by a lighting system 10 from the upper side, and an image is picked up by an image pickup device 10. The picked-up image is converted into a gray level image of 256 gray levels by an A/D conversion part 13 so as to be stored in a frame memory 14. The gray level image read out from the frame memory 14 is converted to an edge image and a gray level gradient image by a processing device 15. The edge image or the gray level gradient image includes a feature accompanying the stranded pattern appearing on the surface of the stranded wire 1. Consequently, by extracting such feature peculiar to the stranded wire 1 at least from either of the edge image or the gray level gradient image, a position, a posture, and a form of the stranded wire 1 on the stage 11 can be recognized correctly and automatically.
