To provide a burner, a combustion method of powder combustibles, and a melting and refining method of a cold iron source for suitably burning powder combustibles such as shredder dust and flame resisting char produced when treating the shredder dust, to effectively utilize it as a thermal energy source of a steelmaking electric furnace.
The burner is formed of multi-pipe structure comprising a powder supply pipe 1, a primary combustion-supporting gas supply pipe 2, a secondary combustion-supporting gas supply pipe 6 and a fuel supply pipe 8. A secondary combustion-supporting gas jet hole 12 connected to a secondary combustion-supporting gas passage 5 to jet secondary combustion-supporting gas into a jet chamber 4, and a fuel jet hole 13 connected to a fuel passage 7 to jet liquid or gas fuel into the jet chamber 4, are opened to the inner surface 2a on the tip 2b side of the primary combustion-supporting gas supply pipe 2 forming the jet chamber 4. The secondary combustion-supporting gas jet hole 12 is formed to jet the secondary combustion-supporting gas as swirl flow from the outer peripheral side of primary combustion-supporting gas jetted almost parallel with an axis O1.
