To provide a connection abnormality detection device and a domestic electric instrument can detect a connection abnormality with high detection accuracy by an inexpensive constitution, and controlling a load to prevent emission of smoke or fire caused by abnormal overheating when a connection abnormality is generated.

This device is equipped with a driving means 6 for controlling operation of a motor 3 connected electrically to a commercial power source 1 through a connection part 2; a connection abnormality detection means 4 for detecting a current flowing in the connection part 2 at a sampling timing; and a connection abnormality determination means 5 for detecting generation of a spark generated at the connection part 2 from output from the connection abnormality detection means 4, and determining an abnormality of a connection state. The driving means 6 controls operation of the motor 3 corresponding to output from the connection abnormality determination means 5.
