Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a formulation for increasing the ratio of gastrointestinal tract microbiota of Bacteroidetes to microbiota of Firmicutes.SOLUTION: The invention discloses a formulation containing, in a dose having fewer than 200 useable calories (837 Kilojoules), a) at least 3 g of an indigestible carbohydrate, inulin, which is fermentable by gastrointestinal microbiota; b) at least 2 g of a dietary beta-glucan extracted from Avena sativa; and c) blueberry pomace extract containing 700 mg of a dietary polyphenol compound. A formulation for increasing desirable microbiota in the human gut and reducing therein undesirable microbiota to achieve a healthy glucose regulation, metabolic fitness, inclusive intestinal health condition, and healthy body weight is also disclosed.SELECTED DRAWING: None
