Abstract:
PURPOSE: To simplify the composition of a recovery means and thereby make it possible to improve the ease of assembling at low cost by providing a pressing means for pressing the discharge orifice of a recording head to the recovery means, on a means for moving the recording head.
CONSTITUTION: A carriage 3 is pressed in an arrow B direction by a spring 9 inserted between the carriage 3 and a sliding member 7 to reduce the diameter of a guide shaft 3b at a capping position. Thus the carriage 3 is allowed to rotate in an arrow A direction, centering around a guide shaft 3a, so that an ink discharge surface is pressed against a cap 5a. Consequently, the ink discharge surface is hermetically sealed by the cap 5a and for this reason, a pressing means for pressing the cap 5a against the ink discharge surface of a recording head 4 need not be installed on a recovery means 5. This advantage enables the ease of assembling to be improved with the simplification of the composition of the recovery means 5 and an entire recording device to be made compact. It is also possible to slash manufacturing cost due to the reduction of the number of parts.
