Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce deterioration of combustion in a cylinder, and occurrence of a misfire during catalyst warmup control.SOLUTION: A control device of an internal combustion engine comprises: at least one of a catalyst arranged in an exhaust passage, an external EGR passage for making an exhaust gas flow back to an intake passage from the exhaust passage, and a variable valve mechanism for changing a valve overlap amount; and a control part which periodically switches rich combustion and lean combustion in the case of a single cylinder, and in the case of a plurality of the cylinders, performs rich combustion of fuel at an arbitrary cylinder in the plurality of cylinders and performs catalyst warmup control performing lean combustion of the fuel at the other cylinder to warm up the catalyst. When there are provided the external EGR passage and the variable valve mechanism, the control part performs at least one of the external EGR control for reducing an external EGR amount more than an external EGR amount when the catalyst warmup control is not performed, during the execution of the catalyst warmup control, and internal EGR control for reducing the valve overlap amount more than a valve overlap amount when the catalyst warmup control is not performed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
