Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for control of an internal combustion engine, capable of properly controlling combustion timing by compression ignition when a combustion mode is switched from an SI combustion mode to an HCCI combustion mode to thereby suppress combustion noise so that merchantability is improved.SOLUTION: In accordance with the control device, when a selected combustion mode is switched from an SI combustion mode to an HCCI combustion mode, an operation by the SI combustion mode is executed as a switching duration SI combustion operation. In the switching duration SI combustion operation, ignition timing IGLOG is controlled so as to be more retarded than basic ignition timing IGMP by a correction amount DIGRS2H (step 86). After the switching duration SI combustion operation, an operation by the HCCI combustion mode is executed, and valve-closing timing of an exhaust valve 5 at that time is controlled so as to be more advanced than valve-closing timing for the SI combustion mode (steps 42, 46).
