Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regenerate fuel reforming performance of a fuel reforming catalyst interposed in an EGR passage.SOLUTION: When regeneration processing of a fuel reforming catalyst 16 is determined to be necessary (S1), a first regeneration mode (S6) is executed for supplying air to the fuel reforming catalyst by opening an EGR control valve when the fuel reforming catalyst is at a predetermined temperature or more (S2), and during a predetermined fuel cut operation time (S3) for stopping fuel supply to an internal combustion engine 1. Then, when the regeneration of the fuel reforming catalyst is not sufficient in the first regeneration mode (S8), regeneration of the fuel reforming catalyst 16 by a second regeneration mode is executed (S14). In the second regeneration mode, air is introduced by opening the EGR control valve during the fuel cut operation, and fuel for reform is injected from a fuel for reform injection valve 14.
