Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protrusion passage detection device and a method capable of certainly and easily detecting passage of a protrusion to generate a timing signal.SOLUTION: A protrusion passage detection device includes a plurality of non-contact sensors 10 (10A, 10B) and a signal generator 30. The plurality of non-contact sensors 10 detect passage of a protrusion 2 in a non-contact fashion to output a plurality of detection signals E (E1, E2) at a plurality of detection positions X (X1, X2) outside of the protrusion 2. The plurality of non-contact sensors are set such that a detection interval L(L1) of the plurality of detection positions X in a circumferential direction and a detection distance H in a radial direction from the detection positions X to a tip of the protrusion 2 can detect part of the tip of the same protrusion 2.
