Abstract:
A cylinder liner (1) for an internal combustion engine, especially a two-stroke crosshead engine is provided. The cylinder liner (1) comprises: a first end adapted to engage the cylinder head (22); a scavenging port (18) located in the wall (29) of the cylinder liner (1) near a second end; and at least one cooling recess (31) or at least one cooling hole of a liquid coolant located in an axial range of the cylinder liner (1) and in a portion (U) in the vicinity of the first end for forced cooling in a wall (29) of the cylinder liner (1). The remaining axial range of the cylinder liner (1) does not have a forced cooling device.
