PURPOSE: To provide a heat transfer sheet which gives a transfer image having high density, the high contrast of light and shade, and which has no color- developing unevenness, etc., and having high quality even in the precise transfer image and does not cause blocking.

CONSTITUTION: In the manufacture of a heat transfer sheet, in which a thermal migration dye layer is formed onto one surface of a base material sheet, a coating fluid composed of thermal migration dyes, a binder and a liquid medium is applied in the same region at least twice, and the weight ratio of the dye/ binder of the coating fluid applied first is made larger than that of the dye/ binder of the coating fluid applied next.
