Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance desalination performance, reduce a size of an apparatus and also enhance regeneration efficiency in a desalination apparatus using a bipolar membrane.SOLUTION: The desalination apparatus is provided with an ion exchange resin layer 16 formed by mixing a weakly acidic cation-exchange resin and a weakly basic anion-exchange resin, for instance, in a space between electrodes 12 and 13 and bipolar membranes 11, and in a space between the bipolar membranes 11, and performs desalination treatment by passing a water to be treated through the space while applying a direct voltage to the electrodes 12 and 13. In regeneration treatment, the desalination apparatus reverses the polarity of a direct voltage applied to the electrodes 12 and 13.
