Abstract:

To improve propelling performance of a ship by making effective use of a flow generated at the rear portion of a skeg during propelling of the ship.

This two-axis catamaran type ship 1 equipped with two propellers includes propelling means 210, 220 of driving the two propellers and propelling the two-axis catamaran type ship and two skegs 11, 12 attached onto the a hull of the two-axis catamaran type ship. The centers of driving shafts of the two propellers are positioned to have offsets 2A, 2B, respectively, from center shafts of the two skegs. The skegs have such a twisted shape as to rotate and advance a naturally generated flow toward the rear portion of the skeg during navigation of the ship. The propellers located at an optimum position capture most of the generated rotating flows in a wing surface as a counterflow, thus enhancing a propulsive force of the ship.
