Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cost by shortening desulfurization treatment time and to reduce refractory material wear of a molten metal holding container, by performing a desulfurization treatment of a molten metal which is a liquid phase of Ni-based alloy containing Ni, Cr and Fe as major constitutional elements in an induction melting furnace in which a desulfurizing agent cannot be fully agitated, at high efficiency and up to a low concentration.SOLUTION: When a molten metal which is a liquid phase of a Ni-based alloy is subjected to desulfurization treatment by adding a desulfurizing agent to the molten metal using an induction melting furnace, the desulfurizing agent of CaO-AlO-MgO-CaFsystem is used which contains, by mass%, 95% or more of 3 components CaO, AlOand MgO, or 4 components with additional CaFas its major constitutional components, and which has a composition range of CaO+CaF:45 to 60 mass%, CaF≤3 mass%, AlO:38 to 50 mass%, and MgO:1 to 12 mass%, and this desulfurizing agent is used in an amount of 20 kg or more per 1 t of the molten metal and is added onto the molten metal in 2 or more separate portions.
