Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device that makes uniform a charged state of a developer on a developer carrying roller to reduce the occurrence of a ghost image caused by a difference in charged state of the developer on the developer carrying roller.SOLUTION: A developing device comprises a developer carrying roller and a developer regulating member that regulates the thickness of a developer layer. The developer regulating member includes a developer layer thickness regulating part and a projecting part, the developer layer thickness regulating part forms a contact part with the surface of the developer carrying roller, and the projecting part has a surface facing the developer carrying roller bent in a concave shape and forms a gap with the surface of the developer carrying roller on the upstream side of the contact part. When the width of the gap is H, and the maximum width and the minimum width of the gap are Hmax and Hmin, respectively, (1) 0.05 mm≤H≤0.5 mm and (2) Hmax/Hmin≤3.0 are satisfied, and when the continuous length of the gap satisfying the formulas (1) and (2) in a developer conveyance direction on the surface of the developer carrying roller is L, (3) L≥0.8 mm is satisfied.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
