Abstract:
An instrument (1), comprising a pre-filled syringe (2) with a distal tip and a proximal collar and able to receive a parenteral injection component, such as a needle, catheter or perfusion tube, comprising a support with an elongated body (18) that fits over the syringe and a distal end member (24) that prevents the parenteral component from being attached to the syringe when intended for oral use, is new. An instrument (1), comprising a pre-filled syringe (2) with a distal tip and a proximal collar and able to receive a parenteral injection component, such as a needle, catheter or perfusion tube, has a support with an elongated body (18) that fits over the syringe and a distal end member (24) that prevents the parenteral component from being attached to the syringe when intended for oral use. The support is fixed solidly to the syringe, e.g. by adhesion, welding, clipping, crimping or hot deforming, and in a preferred version is in the form of a plate (21) that fastens over the syringe's proximal collar.
