Abstract:
An electric power tool has a gear shift slide 9 which is displaceable in an axial direction on a tool housing 8 and is connected to a ring gear 6 by a wire bow 14 so that an axial force exerted on the shift slide 9 may transmitted to the ring gear 6. So that the shift slide 9 experiences a definite latching into place in both gear speed positions, a leaf spring 19 extending at right angles to the direction of displacement is provided, which is fastened by two ends to fixed supports 20, 21. A centre of the leaf spring 19, eg of flat or meandering form, is non-positively connected to an arm 22 on the shift slide 9 so that the leaf spring 19 assumes two stable positions and a definite latching takes place as soon as the leaf spring 19 is pushed beyond its central position. A user therefore senses that a selected speed has been engaged and as the leaf spring 19 tilts over from one position to the other it produces an audible clicking noise.
