Abstract:
To provide a diesel engine improved in thermal efficiency in indirect injection by minimizing a larger heat loss than direct injection by devising surface treatment of each combustion chamber.SOLUTION: In a diesel engine, a main combustion chamber 9 and an auxiliary chamber 6 of the engine communicate with each other through an injection hole 8 formed in an eccentric portion of the main combustion chamber 9, where a surface roughness Ra1 in an injected portion 20 of injection fuel in the auxiliary chamber 6 is set to be 0.3 μm or less (Ra1≤0.3 μm). A ceramic coating s is applied to a surface of a portion 21 other than the injected portion 20 in an auxiliary chamber-forming mouthpiece 4 for forming the auxiliary chamber 6.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
