Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cell and a method for biotransformation of a furanic compound.SOLUTION: The invention provides a novel genetically modified cell with an improved characteristic for biocatalytic transformation of a furanic compound, a vector suitable for genetic modification of a host cell, a method for biotransformation of 5-(hydroxymethyl)furan-2-carboxylic acid (HMF-acid) and a precursor thereof using the cell. Also provided is a Gram-negative bacterial cell having a specified sequence.SELECTED DRAWING: None
