Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment agent that is capable of exerting high removal efficiency when removing heavy metals chosen from arsenic, selenium, lead, cadmium and chromium or fluorine from polluted water or polluted soil and, if necessary, is capable of satisfying required characteristics such as practical apparatus scale, water-supplying conditions and long-term durability, and to provide a useful treatment method using such treatment agent.SOLUTION: A treatment agent is for removing heavy metals and/or fluorine from polluted water or polluted soil containing at least one heavy metal chosen from arsenic, selenium, lead, cadmium and chromium and/or fluorine, where an iron powder coexist with a metal chloride. Heavy metals or fluorine contained in the polluted water or polluted soil can be efficiently removed by bringing such treatment agent into contact with the polluted water containing the heavy metals or fluorine.
