Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide method and device for manufacturing a muffler which is prepared by charging sound absorbing material such as glass wool between a porous inner pipe and a porous outer pipe easily and certainly, without using binder or the like.
CONSTITUTION: A long mat-like sound absorbing member S is wound around an outer peripheral surface of a porous inner pipe T1 by plural times to obtain specified thickness. The inner pipe T1 around which the sound absorbing member S is wound is rotated in the direction of winding the sound absorbing member by means of an inner pipe rotationally driving means such as spindles 1A, 1B, while a pair of evening members 2A, 2B each having semi-circular recession substantially equal to an inner diameter of the outer pipe are under the operation of gradually abutting against the outer peripheral surface of the sound absorbing member S. The outer diameter measurement of the sound absorbing member S is substantially equalized to the inner diameter measurement of the outer pipe T2. The inner pipe T1 is continuously rotated, and inserted into the outer pipe T2 which is fixed by means of an outer pipe fixing means such as clamps 3A, 3B.
