PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the degradation of picture quality even when light-dark drive is performed.SOLUTION: Provided is a drive device for a display device having a pixel switching element, the drive device having: pixel voltage control means for controlling a voltage applied to the pixel electrodes of a plurality of pixels; common voltage control means for controlling a common voltage applied to a common electrode by switching between two different values every fixed time within one frame; and light-dark control means for controlling the iteration of light display and dark display. The pixel voltage control means changes the pixel electrode that controls a voltage every fixed time. The common voltage control means exerts control in a drive mode, where light display and dark display are repeated by the light-dark control means, in such a way that the common voltage with which a voltage is applied to the same pixel electrode is differentiated between a first light display frame in which light display immediately preceding a period for dark display is performed and a second light display frame in which light display immediately following the period is performed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
