To provide an apparatus for dehydrating/drying slurry, by which the drying time can be shortened without causing uneven dryness in the cake and which economical and has excellent durability and to provide a method for dehydrating/drying the slurry.
This apparatus is a filter press provided with a filtration chamber 55 surrounded by a filter frame 54, a diaphragm 52 and filter cloth 51. A metallic projection 52a penetrating the diaphragm 52 is arranged on each of the front and back of the diaphragm 52. It is preferable that the slurry is squeezed by the diaphragm 52, heated and dried under reduced pressure by supplying a heating medium between the frame 54 and the diaphragm 52 and decompressing the side of a filtrate discharging route 52b between the cloth 51 and the diaphragm 52.
