Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable prompt execution of initial activation processing of a nickel hydrogen battery that uses an ABtype hydrogen-storing alloy for an anode.SOLUTION: In an initial activation method of a nickel hydrogen battery that uses an ABtype hydrogen-storing alloy for an anode and regarding its charge and discharge cycle, constant voltage discharge is performed on a charged nickel hydrogen battery at a holding voltage of 0.8 to 1.2 V for 1 to 10 hours or until a discharge current decreases to 0.02 C with regard to an anode capacity, or preferably, until the discharge current decreases to the holding voltage.
