Abstract:
To simplify and downsize the structure of a capacitance detection device or an image reading device having the capacitance detection device.SOLUTION: The capacitance detection device includes: a first electrode 1 and a second electrode 2 at least partially opposed, a conveyance path 5 extending along a conveyance direction which is a direction that a sheet-like detection target object 3 is conveyed being interposed between the first electrode 1 and the second electrode 2; an oscillation circuit that produces an electric field 9 between the first electrode 1 and the second electrode 2; a detection circuit that detects a change in capacitance between the first electrode 1 and the second electrode 2; a first substrate 11 and a second substrate 12 on which at least one of the oscillation circuit and the detection circuit is formed; an insulative first flat plate 6 formed between the first electrode 1 and the conveyance path 5; and an insulative second flat plate 7 formed between the second electrode 2 and the conveyance path 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 25
