PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply unit and illumination device, capable of achieving high safety in a simple structure.SOLUTION: A power supply unit includes: a power conversion unit that inputs an AC voltage and outputs a DC voltage; a control unit that monitors an input of the power conversion unit; and an auxiliary power supply unit that generates and outputs, with the same transformer, a first output for supplying electric power operating the control unit and a second output for supplying electric power operating a control circuit controlling operations of the power conversion unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
