To provide a power supply apparatus which requires no wasteful space with no increase of cost while causing no wasteful use of energy, and can supply power even at the time of the occurrence of momentary service interruption.
During normal operation, a rotating shaft 51 of a motor generator 15 is connected to a cooling fan 13 by an electromagnetic clutch mechanism 16, so that power from a commercial AC power supply 17 is fed to a load circuit 2. The motor-generator 15 rotates the cooling fan 13 to cool a power supply module 1. At the time of momentary service interruption, a flywheel 14 keeps the rotation of the motor generator 15, and power generated by the motor generator 15 is fed to the load circuit 2. At this time, the electromagnetic clutch mechanism 16 separates the rotating shaft 51 of the motor generator 15 from the cooling fan 13. Thus, the resistance of air from the cooling fan 13 does not cause an energy loss.
