Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a radio receiver capable of reducing the number of operating keys and the number of times of an operation required for channel selection and performing the channel selection even when a name of broadcast station is unknown.
CONSTITUTION: The channel selection of a display broadcast station when the depressing operation of a progressive operation instruction key 16-1 is stopped can be performed by providing memory 17 which stores plural pieces of broadcast station name information and frequency division ratio data in accordance with the broadcast frequency of the broadcast station based on respective broadcast station name information, a broadcast station name update control means 15-3 which reads out sequentially the broadcast station name information stored in the memory 17 at every prescribed period and sends out read out broadcast station name information to a display 18 and displays the name of broadcast station based on the broadcast station name information, and a channel selection frequency control means 15-4 which retrieves the frequency division ratio in accordance with sent broadcast station name information to the display 18 when the depressing operation of the progressive operation instruction key 16-1 is stopped and sends out retrieved frequency division ratio data to the variable frequency divider 14 of a frequency synthesizer 4.
