Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of efficiently utilizing the energy generated by steam explosion as electric power.SOLUTION: An MHD generator which utilizes steam explosion in a liquid metal includes a steam explosion chamber containing a liquid metal holding container which holds a high-temperature liquid metal of 300°C or higher and an injection part which intermittently injects water into the high-temperature liquid metal being held in the liquid metal holding container, for intermittent steam explosion. It also includes an MHD generation part which introduces the high-temperature liquid metal splashed by the steam explosion in the steam explosion chamber as an operation fluid, and utilizes its energy for power generation. With this configuration, the steam explosion whose mechanism has not been illustrated clearly can be caused with sure, and the energy of the liquid metal splashed by the steam explosion is efficiently converted into and taken out as electric power.
